Burl Ives Had Tremendous Vision

He sang of Silver and Gold long before anyone knew of Robert Kiyosaki or Mike Maloney. I have the utmost respect for both these men of course.
Burl got in when everybody thought he was crazy. He wrote a song about it, want to hear it again?

Goal Setting Prompts

Questions to help you delineate your goals…

1. “What’s my vision of the future?”

2. “Where do I picture myself three years from today?”

3. “How will others perceive me in the future? My boss, my peers, my family?”

4. “What has to happen in the next two years for me to be happy with my progress?”

5. “What visual image do I have for my team? What visual image do I have for my company?”

6. “How do I want to be perceived by my customers? My employees?”

7. “How would my boss define me in one sentence?”

8. “What excites me most about my job? What do I want to do more of/less of/stop doing altogether, so I can achieve what’s important to me? To my team? To my company?”

9. “Which mountain do I want to climb?”

10. “What’s my definition of success?”

11. “What benchmarks do I need to achieve in order to feel successful?”

12. “What actions do I need to perform on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to achieve my goals?”

13. “What areas of my job should I focus on in order to have the most impact on my staff?”

14. “Where do I need to prioritize to insure my success? My team’s success?”
If your employees goals aren’t aligned with yours, you’ll find yourselves working at cross-purposes.

Think about your own personal and professional goals, then write them down and turn your written words into actions. Once you know what you want, you’ll be better prepared to help your employees figure out what they want, putting all of you on the same page and the fast track to your happy ending of choice.

10 Ways to lose weight safely

1.
Choose lean protein choices, such as eggs, egg substitutes, lean beef, turkey, chicken, fish, “tofu for vegetarian." Only broil, bake, boil or poach. Only olive oil or PAM.

2.
Minimize consumption of high glycemic carbohydrates (carbs that make your blood sugar spike) such as white rice, sugar, certain pastas and potatoes. Certain cereals are ok. (Use a low glycemic list for good body choices).

3.
When eating carbs, eat them with proteins and keep portion size small.

4.
Eat high fiber foods or add fiber to your diet.

5.
Water, Water, WATER. Drink lots of water daily. Drink it before a meal to help get you fuller quicker.

6.
Try to keep your daily food intake at 40% protein, 40% carbohydrate, 20% fat which is normally found in the foods that you eat.

7.
Eat 4-6 small meals a day. Eat fewer meals if you use a high protein shake or bar for one of the meals.

8.
Portion sizes of everything should be the size of your fist. Protein can be more if you are exercising.

9.
When eating out remember to have your food cooked the right way. You are paying. Limit condiments on food and you will actually begin to notice the quality of food.

10.
Exercise: Cardio exercise at least 20-30 minutes 3 times a week and resistance exercise with weights or machines 2-3 times a week for 20-30 minutes using mostly large muscle groups to increase your metabolism.

Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength

Jeremiah 17:5-9

5 Thus says the LORD: “ Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength,”

We cannot afford to put our trust in man this year. We must not put our trust in ourselves, or in other people. Make  a commitment to God and to each other that we are  not going to take a step without seeking God first.

7 “ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit”.

This will be a fruitful year for you. That is the promise in God’s Word. Set your face to seek Him and your heart will be established in the Word. Even if it is a year of drought, you will not fear, you will be fruitful.

Practical Tip

Be wise about your health. We do not compare ourselves to others, we seek God for ourselves. This is not about keeping rules it’s about being hungry for God. Fan the flame that has been lit within you this week. Worship the Lord and give Him time to speak to your heart.

The Power of Not Thinking

The Power of Not Thinking

By Tzvi Freeman

Thinking has a profound effect. So does not thinking.

A mind obsessed with yesterday’s travesties, today’s aches and pains, and tomorrow’s dark clouds, creates problems where none exist. It transforms daydreams into realities, molehills into monstrosities, innocent creatures into venomous snakes. All the more so when such words pass the lips into the tangible world we all share.

That is why simply turning your back to those thoughts is such a powerful form of healing—for every sort of illness. Distract your mind to good thoughts, productive thoughts, thoughts of confidence in the One who made you, and especially thoughts of Torah.

Heal your mind and heal your soul. You will heal your body as well.

The 30 Second Rule

THE 30-SECOND RULE GIVES PEOPLE THE TRIPLE-A TREATMENT

All people feel better and do better when you give them attention, affirmation, and appreciation. The next time you make contact with people, begin by giving them your undivided attention during the first thirty seconds. Affirm them and show your appreciation for them in some way. Then watch what happens. You will be surprised by how positively they respond. And if you have trouble remembering to keep your focus on them instead of on yourself, then perhaps the words of William King will help you. He said, “A gossip is one who talks to you about other people. A bore is one who talks to you about himself. And a brilliant conversationalist is one who talks to you about yourself.”

THE 30-SECOND RULE GIVES PEOPLE ENERGY

Psychologist Henry H. Goddard conducted a study on energy levels in children using an instrument he called the “ergograph.” His findings are fascinating. He discovered that when tired children were given a word of praise or commendation, the ergograph showed an immediate upward surge of energy in the children. When the children were criticized or discouraged, the ergograph showed that their physical energy took a sudden nosedive.

You may have already discovered this intuitively. When someone praises you, doesn’t your energy level go up? And when you are criticized, doesn’t that comment drag you down? Words have great power.

What kind of environment do you think you could create if you continually affirmed people when you first came into contact with them? Not only would you encourage them, but you would also become an energy carrier. Whenever you walked into a room, the people would light up! You would help to create the kind of environment everyone loves. Just your presence alone would brighten people’s days.

Wisdom

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,
and the one who gets understanding,
for the gain from her is better than gain from silver
and her profit better than gold.
She is more precious than jewels,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her;
those who hold her fast are called blessed.

Let us find her, and let us tell everyone how precious and rich she is indeed.
